Gratitude: How being grateful every day will change your life.
Have you ever felt a real deep sense of fear? Or faced a challenge so daunting that success seemed like an impossible outcome? Yet somehow you overcome your fear, you achieve what you and others thought you couldn’t. What comes after these moments of success or victory? Gratitude.
Gratitude, being thankful for not just the moment or the taste of victory, but everything that got you there. There is beauty and greatness in the struggle, in the fight, in the hard-won battles. We acknowledge all of it and we are extremely grateful for it. But we quickly move on to the next task, the next goal, or the next mission.
What if we demonstrated the same type of gratitude in our daily lives? What would the benefits be? How can we use Gratitude to improve our quality of life? Luckily for us, Gratitude has been studied by numerous Medical Institutions and Prestigious schools. Here are some of the Top 3 Benefits of demonstrating Gratitude every day.
1. Demonstrating Gratitude towards others helps build and strengthen relationships. Being mindful of how other people contribute to your happiness and wellbeing in your daily life and showing gratitude for it, helps forge and strengthen bonds. 2. Believe it or not, showing gratitude in your daily life has been shown to have significant health benefits! I dealt with this while going through some serious injuries. When you’re dealing with UNBEARABLE pain on a constant basis, the last thing you want to hear is “You need to be grateful and practice gratitude”. The concept seemed strange to say the least. But slowly, and often begrudgingly I started focusing on all the good in my life and being grateful for it. My pain was there, but it wasn’t the focus of my mind or my life. It wasn’t the center of my attention and I eventually did feel better. 3. Gratitude helps relieve stress. When we focus on what is good in life and show our appreciation for it, it is much easier to deal with Stress. It is hard to be overtaken by stress when we have gratitude for all that we have.
Now that you know how it can be of benefit to you, how can we start putting it into practice? It’s as simple as saying thank you to those that do something for us. Writing “Thank you” notes, reaching out to those within our TRIBE, and expressing your gratitude for all that they do for you, journaling specifically to record your gratitude for specific events and people, and of course Meditation. Try meditating while focusing on what you are grateful for.
On our journey to being the best version of ourselves, we have to be willing to try and do ANYTHING that could impact our lives positively. Expressing gratitude for all that we have may seem silly, unconventional, and rooted in some Hippie dogma…. FREE yourself from these judgments and JUST BE GRATEFUL!
After all, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
